Hi! This is the official website of the book, Harlan County Haunts, by Darla Saylor Jackson. Harlan County Haunts was released in March of 2008. Harlan County Haunts is the first book in an upcoming "Haunts" series, the second, More Harlan County Haunts, was released May 21, 2009.
Darla Saylor Jackson's goal is to preserve the rich tradition of ghost stories in Appalachia. All the stories in her books are ones she believes to be true accounts of the paranormal.
Darla was born and raised in Harlan County, Kentucky and takes great pride in being a resident of the Appalachian Mountains. Her goal is not only the preservation of ghost tales, but also the teaching of mountain life and culture. Within the tales of the supernatural, mountain living is entwined in each story.
Darla is also tirelessly trying to find the identity of a young murder victim found on Pine Mountain in Harlan County in 1969. The novella, Carloline, in Harlan County Haunts tells of her and her family's eerie experiences with this unsolved case.
If you have a TRUE ghost story from Harlan County or the Appalachian Mountains, contact Darla and it will be considered for one of her upcoming books.
