| The Book I began writing Harlan County Haunts and Tales of the Unusual and Amazing Featuring "Caroline" From the Journal of James Saylor over two years ago. I completed it in winter of 2008 and it contains about 65 true ghostly encounters from Harlan, southeastern Kentucky and other states. All stories have a Harlan County connection. My inspiration for writing the book was the novella, "Caroline". "Caroline" was the first story written for the book. It was supposed to be a book on its own. I soon realized that my story had no ending and it wasn't long enough to be a book by itself, so I began compiling ghost stories to create a book for "Caroline". "Caroline" is the story of a young woman found dead in Harlan County in 1969. Her identity was never discovered nor was her killer's. "Caroline" tells about this event and my uncle's experience of encountering and communicating with this girl's spirit. All stories in my book are true and told by credible sources. Some are from my childhood and some are very recent. |

News! This area will be for updates on "Caroline", updates on books, and for really great ghost stories and experiences. If you have any information regarding Caroline or if you have a really scary (true) story, email me or add it to the GuestBook. April 8, 2008: More Harlan County Haunts! Due to the overwhelming response of Harlan County Haunts, I have now begun compiling stories for book two that I hope to have completed in the fall. |
